This project concerns itself with generational identity as a discursive construction that works in the same way as other cultural dichotomies (class/gender/race). Three particular strategies to make generations visible and popular will be examined: examples, genres and rhetoric. Individual figures like the German author and television personality Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre, the use of specific forms of communication (newspapers, personality shows, blogs as genres) and the politics of inclusion and exclusion in generational identities (as rhetoric) will be analyzed.
